During the 93rd Academy Awards Ceremony which took place last night, the Academy Award for International Feature Film went to ANOTHER ROUND by Thomas Vinterberg, a co-production between Denmark, Sweden and the Netherlands supported by Eurimages, the Fund's 10th Academy Award in this category. Two other Eurimages-supported co-productions were among the five titles nominated in this category: THE MAN WHO SOLD HIS SKIN (FR, TN, DE, BE) by Kaouther Ben Hania and QUO VADIS, AIDA? (BA, RO, AT, DE, NL) by Jasmila Zbanic.
ANOTHER ROUND had already won numerous European Film Awards in 2020 before obtaining the French 2021 César for Best Foreign Film and the 2021 BAFTA for Best Foreign Language Film more recently.
Previous Eurimages-supported co-productions to receive the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film (renamed International Feature Film) were IDA by Pawel Pawlikowski in 2015, THE GREAT BEAUTY by Paolo Sorrentino in 2014 and LOVE by Michael Haneke in 2013, among others.
The Eurimages Fund is delighted with this success, which pays tribute to high-quality cinema: through its support for these films, the Fund demonstrates its commitment to fostering cinematographic creativity and strengthening the value of the Eurimages label.
