Back Racism and intolerance: Council of Europe reports on Finland, Portugal and San Marino

European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI)

The Council of Europe's anti-racism body, ECRI, has expressed concerns about the situation of several vulnerable groups in Finland, legislation on citizenship and the absence of comprehensive laws to fight discrimination in San Marino, and about the length of racial discrimination complaints procedures in Portugal.

In reports published today, ECRI makes a number of recommendations to the authorities with a view to enhancing efforts to combat discrimination, and to promote dialogue and tolerance. ECRI also acknowledges positive developments in each of the three countries.

In two years' time ECRI will carry out a follow-up evaluation of the key recommendations.

The Commission also published conclusions on the implementation of a number of priority recommendations it made to France, Poland and "the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia" in 2010. (more...)
