Secretary General Marija Pejčinović Burić has met the United Nations (UN) High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk. The excellent institutional co-operation between the Council of Europe and United Nations has been underlined during the exchange of views.
Marija Pejčinović Burić reiterated the relevance of the pledge made at the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in Geneva while emphasising how the organisation has moved forward towards the implementation of the pledges, notably concerning the development of new international human rights conventions and ensuring accountability for Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.
