Secretary General on official visit to Liechtenstein

Secretary General Marija Pejčinović Burić has met His Serene Highness Alois Hereditary Prince of Liechtenstein, Prime Minister Risch, Foreign Minister Hasler, and other key personalities during an official visit to discuss the priorities of the country’s upcoming Committee of Ministers Presidency (15 November 2023 - 17 May 2024).

Meeting the Hereditary Prince of Liechtenstein, the Secretary General welcomed the Principality’s Presidency. She emphasised the conclusions of the Fourth Summit of Heads of State and Government, which defined an ambitious path to reinforce democratic security, stop democratic backsliding and respond to new developing challenges across Europe.

She met Prime Minister Daniel Risch and Foreign Minister Dominique Hasler, with discussions focusing on the Presidency’s priorities. The follow-up to the Reykjavik Summit, including the execution of Court judgments, the role of youth, the protection of the environment, and artificial intelligence, were among the topics discussed.

The Register of Damage Caused by the Aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine and the Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence (CETS No. 210) were also highlighted.

During her visit, the Secretary General also had an exchange with Council of Europe experts from Liechtenstein.
