Serbia ratifies the Macolin and Saint-Denis Conventions

Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Serbia to the Council of Europe, Suzana Grubješić, has deposited the instruments of ratification of the Council of Europe Convention on the Manipulation of Sports Competitions (CETS No. 215), also known as the Macolin Convention and of the Council of Europe Convention on an Integrated Safety, Security and Service Approach at Football Matches and Other Sports Events (CETS Nº 218), also known as the Saint-Denis Convention before the Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Bjørn Berge.

Serbia becomes the 14th State Party to the Macolin Convention and the 31st State Party to the Saint-Denis Convention. The Macolin Convention will enter into force on 1 May 2025 and the Saint-Denis Convention will enter into force in Serbia on 1 March 2025.

Within three years, the number of countries that have ratified the Macolin Convention has more than doubled, reaching 14 with this latest accession. This milestone marks a decisive turning point in the recognition of this unique international instrument to combat the manipulation of sports competitions.
