On 30 January, the Department for the Execution of Judgments participated in the first thematic meeting of the Execution Co-ordinators Network in Strasbourg. This thematic meeting focused on fostering dialogue and sharing good practices of co-ordination and cooperation with National Parliaments and with National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs). The Department presented the 2024 annual statistics on the execution of cases under the supervision of the Committee of Ministers and the strategy for the execution of cases concerning the Russian Federation.
The Execution Co-ordinators Network was established by the national co-ordinators for the execution of judgments at a meeting held in Helsinki on 24 June 2024 further to the call of the Heads of State and Government of the Council of Europe at their 4th Summit in Reykjavik in 2023. At that summit the Heads of State and Government recommitted to ensuring the full, effective, and prompt execution of the final judgments of the Court, and also affirmed the need for a co-operative and inclusive approach, based on dialogue, in the supervision process.
The first thematic meeting was organised under the multilateral co-operation project “Support to efficient domestic capacity for the execution of ECtHR judgments (Phase 2)”, funded by the Human Rights Trust Fund.
