On 27 March, the Department for the Execution of Judgments carried out a training for the Ombudsman of the Republic of Moldova and his office. They were instructed on the system of supervision of execution of the judgments of the European Court of Human Rights and presented with an overview of the most pressing issues in cases concerning the Republic of Moldova, pending before the Committee of Ministers.
Notably, the participants discussed inadequate medical care during detention (Cosovan), poor conditions of detention and the domestic remedy to challenge them (I.D.), as well as Transnistrian cases in which the European Court found violations against the Republic of Moldova (Filin and Negruta).
Lastly, the Ombudsman’s Office was informed on the possibilities of contributing to the supervision of execution of the European Court’s judgments, notably through communications to the Committee of Ministers under Rule 9.
