“I am deeply shocked by the horrendous terrorist attack which took place in Istanbul this morning. I wish to express my sincere condolences to the families of the victims and my sympathy and solidarity to the Turkish people and authorities.
Europe must stand firm and united against terrorism, in full respect of the principles of freedom, democracy, human rights and the rule of law. The Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe will continue to give the highest priority to the implementation of the Action Plan on the fight against violent extremism and radicalisation leading to terrorism adopted in May 2015.”
