Council of Europe Secretary General Marija Pejčinović Burić has exchanged views with the President of Iceland, Gudni Th. Jóhannesson. The Fourth Summit of the Heads of State and Government in Reykjavik (16-17 May) has been at the centre of the meeting. “The Summit presents a historic opportunity to reaffirm unity at the highest political level and reinforce commitment to the Organisation’s values”, stated the Secretary General.
Marija Pejčinović Burić emphasised the relevance of setting up a Register of Damage to record and document evidence and claims of damage, loss, or injury because of the ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine. President Jóhannesson and Secretary General Pejčinović Burić will deliver statements at the opening of the conference on the role of men and boys in gender equality policies and in policies to combat violence against women.
