A year ago, tragic events took place at the Maidan Nezalezhnosti in Kyiv, which resulted in many people killed and injured. The Council of Europe’s International Advisory Panel mandated with reviewing the investigation into the violent incidents during the Maidan demonstrations, will deliver its Report to the Secretary General and the Ukrainian authorities on 31 March 2015. It will be made public thereafter.
The function of the Panel is to review whether the investigations into those incidents meet all the requirements of the European Convention on Human Rights and the case-law of the European Court of Human Rights.
Since the events in Odessa on 2 May 2014 are also covered by the Panel’s Mandate, the Panel has recently addressed the Prosecutor General’s Office with its preliminary enquiries concerning the investigations into these events.
