1968 - Faenza

The Faenza townFaenza is a town in the province of Ravenna in northeast Italy. It is a stronghold of arts and crafts, known since the Renaissance for its production of ceramic items. The very place name has become synonymous with ceramics in a number of languages, particularly French and English (faïence).

The municipality makes remarkable efforts to develop a European spirit of understanding and friendship locally. There are close contacts with its twin towns: Bergerac (France), Gmünden (Austria), Marousi (Greece), Rijeka (Croatia), Schwäbisch Gmünd (Germany), Talavera de la Reina (Spain) and Timisoara (Romania). Youth exchanges between these towns, and an annual International Competition of Contemporary Ceramic Art are amongst the many events organised.
