On 27 November, the EGTC (European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation) European Region Tyrol – South Tyrol – Trentino unanimously adopted its ''Triennial plan to prevent corruption 2014 – 2016'', aiming at reducing corruption and bringing to light more efficiently corruption practices. The plan also includes preventive measures and the implementation of a comprehensive management of the ''institutional risk''. Among the high-risk areas of corruption are fields like employment, salaries, development, commissioning of construction, service and delivery. Special trainings will be arranged for all EGTC employees to raise their awareness and illustrate the measures to be taken in suspicious cases. This EGTC resolution is an important contribution to the implementation of the Congress’ initiative to combat corruption at the local and regional level. Targeted action to combat corruption at the grassroots’ level was one of the main priorities of the Congress presidency of Herwig van Staa, (Austria EPP/CCE) who is currently President of the Parliament of Tyrol. On his initiative, an international conference on this subject took place in Innsbruck (Austria) last May.
