“The Chamber of Regions will contribute as fully as possible to the Congress Reform,” stated Gunn Marit HELGESEN, President of the Chamber of Regions of the Congress in her communication to the 34th Session on 28 March 2018 in Strasbourg, France. She called on the members to engage in the reflection on the future of the Congress and especially on the structure of the Chamber of Regions, its numerical parity with the Chamber of Local Authorities and the types of regional authorities represented in the Chamber. Gunn Marit HELGESEN reiterated that the Chamber of Regions represents the voice of the regions within the Congress. “Our Chamber has a major role to play in defending regional interest across Europe,” she stressed. The agenda of the Chamber’s 34th session featured thematic debates on “Regional identity and integrity of the nation-State” and “Regional referendum, a tool for democracy: challenges and risks”.
