Youth delegates from 39 member states of the Council of Europe took part in the debates at the 37th Session of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities. This participation was part of the Congress’s “Rejuvenating politics” initiative, which, since 2014, has sought to promote youth participation in public life and in the decision-making process at local and regional levels.
The youth delegates, who gained their first experience of a session alongside the Congress’s local and regional elected representatives during its 36th session (2-4 April 2019), took part in various debates on Tunisia’s request for Partner for Local Democracy status and on the role of local and regional governments in protecting IDPs, as well as in the free debates of the Chambers of Regions and of Local Authorities.
On 29 October 2019, the youth delegates also presented their grassroots projects to Congress members.
