Spain: 4th Meeting of Managers of Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe crossing Spain

The 4th meeting of the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe Managers in Spain took place in San Cristobal de la Laguna, Tenerife. The meeting was organised by the Ministry of Culture of Spain, in collaboration with the Government of the Canary Islands and with the support of the University of La Laguna.

The conference was attended by 40 managers of certified Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe. Attendees discussed theoretical and practical options for developing the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe programme in Spain, under the title: ‘Strategies for communication, visibility and enhancement of Cultural Routes’.

Participants considered communication plans and social media management, as well as options for exploring synergies between European cultural programmes. A series of presentations, a discussion, a panel and a workshop provided the basis for a very fruitful discussion.

Participants also enjoyed a guided tour of the city of La Laguna and a visit to the Teide National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Spain is a founding member state of the Enlarged Partial Agreement on the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe (APE). Mr. Sergio Ortega Muñoz, Head of the Heritage Protection and European Programmes Service for the Ministry of Culture, is the Representative of Spain to the EPA Governing Board. He is currently the Vice-Chair of the EPA Governing Board.
