After two years of online gatherings, the coordinators of member cities of the international Intercultural Cities (ICC) network, together with the coordinators of national and regional ICC networks will finally meet in-person in Reggio Emilia (Italy), on 16-17 November 2022.
The meeting of ICC coordinators takes place once per year and aims at taking stock of achievements, putting forward and discussing challenges and solutions, as well as at preparing the programme of work for the following year. Among the main strategic developments of this year, international members will hear about the progress made to engage Council of Europe member states towards multilevel governance of intercultural integration, while recognising the role of local and regional authorities in the conception and implementation of policies for inclusive societies. This work also includes the design of new capacity building tools such as an intercultural competence course, a series of new policy briefs, and a training on data collection and analysis to identify and prevent systemic discrimination.
Other highlights will include the presentation of the results and recommendations of the independent evaluation of the ICC programme services and tools, carried out in 2022 ; a thematic session on multilingualism and language policies in the Intercultural City organised thanks to a financial contribution from the government of Japan; a capacity-building workshop on identifying and preventing systemic discrimination, and a session dedicated to planning work to progress on the implementation of inclusive policies for the intercultural city.
Registrations are open until 6 October 2022.
