Professor in the Modern History of Ideas at Teesside University (UK), Matthew Feldman presents his analysis of the recent rise of far-right movements in Europe, including some of its recent "Alt-Right" manifestations, which have fanned the flames of bigotry and hatred.
He also highlights the danger of right-wing populism, authoritarian democracy and the growing influence of far-right political ideas on mainstream politics. At risk, he contends, is the liberal democratic tradition of tolerance, compromise, cooperation and rational decision making.
