On 25-27 July 2023, Patrick Penninckx, Head of the Information Society Department, undertook a working visit to Uruguay to promote the Council of Europe global instruments. He started his mission with a presentation on “AI Challenges from the perspective of data protection and cybercrime” at Montevideo University.
The agenda of the visit further included an interview with Radio Mundo, and meetings with representatives of the UN, the Personal Data Regulatory and Control Unit (URCDP) and the Digital Government Agency on the topics of cybersecurity, AI and data protection. He also met with representatives of the Institute for Children and Adolescents (INAU), presenting the Lanzarote Convention on Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse. Finally. Mr. Penninckx had a briefing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on AI work, the Lanzarote Convention and the Register of damage for Ukraine.
