The Joint Opinion of the Venice Commission and the Directorate General on Human Rights and Rule of Law (DGI) of the Council of Europe on the Law on Media of Azerbaijan has been adopted by the Venice Commission at the 131st Plenary Session on 17-18 June and published on 20 June 2022.
The opinion was requested by the Committee on the Honouring of Obligations and Commitments by Member States of the Council of Europe (the Monitoring Committee) of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on 2 February 2022. Ms Neila Chaabane (Substitute Member of the Venice Commission, Tunisia), Ms Herdis Kjerulf Thorgeirsdottir (Member of the Venice Commission, Iceland), Mr Ben Vermeulen (Member of the Venice Commission, the Netherlands), and Ms Krisztina Rozgonyi (DGI Expert, Information Society Department of the Council of Europe) acted as rapporteurs for this opinion.
