The Expert Committee on human rights dimensions of automated data processing and different forms of artificial intelligence (MSI-AUT) meets on 6 and 7 March 2018 in Strasbourg.
The inter-disciplinary Committee is a sub-ordinate body to the Steering Group on Media and Information Society (CDMSI). It is tasked to reflect on the most important challenges posed by automated data processing, new digital technologies and services for the freedom of expression, the media environment of member states and information societies as a whole.
By the end of 2019, the Expert Committee will prepare:
- a standard-setting instrument on the human rights dimensions of automated data processing techniques (in particular algorithms);
- a study on the development and use of new digital technologies and services, including different forms of artificial intelligence, and their impact on human rights;
- a study on forms of liability and jurisdictional issues in the application of defamation laws in member states.
