Nicholas Karides
Nicholas Karides was born in London. He went to school in Cyprus and studied at Penn State University in the United States and at Middlesex Polytechnic and the London School of Journalism in Britain. After a spell as a journalist in London he served at the Delegation of the European Commission in Nicosia. He resigned from the Commission when Cyprus joined the European Union to set up Ampersand Public Affairs of which he is currently director. In the years running up to Cyprus’ accession he lectured on European integration at the Cyprus Academy of Public Administration. He was among the founding editors of the award-winning news outlet Offsite and is the author of Knowing One’s Place (2017) a collection of essays on journalism, history and football. He contributes to a range of news outlets and think-tank publications and is a member of the Media Pluralism Monitor Network (CMPF, EUI).
