Legal and healthcare professionals of Armenia participated in the HELP e-course

HELP specialised e-course “Key Human Rights Principles in Biomedicine” aims at addressing the ethical issues of informed consent to medical intervention, the right to know one’s health data, matters related to medically assisted procreation, recourse to organ or tissue transplantation, etc. All of them in certain aspects may fall into the scope of application of human rights law.

The main purpose of the course is to assist both legal and medical professionals to understand the key human rights principles in the biomedical field and help to address them accordingly in their daily practice. 

Around 30 legal and healthcare professionals of Armenia, including the representatives of the National Institute of Health of the Ministry of Health, Academy of Justice, as well as medical doctors and other healthcare professionals, lawyers, and advocates participated in the specialized HELP e-course “Key Human Rights Principles in Biomedicine” which was launched in September 2024. The HELP roll-outs were tutored by Armenian HELP certified tutors Karine Abrahamyan and Anna Mkrtumyan. 

Following the completion of the Course successful participants were handed over certificates of completion by Head of Human Rights and Biomedicine Division of the Council of Europe Laurence Lwoff on 5 December 2024 at the premises of the National Institute of Health of Armenia. 

The HELP roll-out was organised within the framework of the Council of Europe cooperation project “Protection of Human Rights in Biomedicine II” in Armenia implemented under the Council of Europe Action Plan for Armenia for 2023-2026.
