ICEI is an Italian NGO born in Milan in 1977. Since 1991 they work in development cooperation projects around the world (South-East Asia, Africa, Latin America, the Balkans), and have a long track record of working in Italy and Europe as an agent of information, awareness-raising, training and research on issues related to international relations, geopolitics, global citizenship and social changes.
ICEI work with people and local communities to improve social and economic conditions, and to promote inclusive, equitable and sustainable societies in a participatory way. They carry out cooperation interventions, with a cross-cutting focus on environmental sustainability, in Italy and around the world, in the fields of intercultural citizenship, work inclusion, sustainable agriculture and responsible tourism.
ICEI’s priority targets, across all areas, are the most vulnerable, especially young people and women.
In their projects (funded by different donors such as the European Commission, the Italian Government, local foundations, and local authorities) they involve local authorities, the civil society and different stakeholders in the educational and social fields, in the fight to discrimination of any kind.
ICEI is the first entity developing the Antirumours Strategy in Italy, with a focus on students and youth.
