The Fifth Coordination Meeting was held online for the pilot Bar Associations on 6 May 2021, under scope of the Joint Project on Strengthening the Capacity of Bar Associations and Lawyers on European Human Rights Standards (SCoBAL). The meeting brought together representatives of the pilot Bar Associations and the Union of Turkish Bar Association (UTBA), together with the representative of the company who developed an IT tool, which aims at improving communication between local Bar Associations, human rights centers and the UTBA.
Following the opening speeches of Mr Sergey Dikman (CoE Programme Coordinator) and Mr Ünsal Toker (UTBA Vice President), the participants exchanged information on the implementation and monitoring of short term objectives defined in Strategic Action Plan during COVID-19 and collection of statistical information about project indicators in coordination with the pilot Bar Associations.
The service provider also briefed the participants in detail about the IT tool that was developed and which is currently in the testing stage. Suggestions and comments of the local bar associations about this tool were also discussed during the meeting.
The Joint Project on “Strengthening the Capacity of Bar Associations and Lawyers on European Human Rights Standards (SCoBAL)” is implemented by the Council of Europe, and co-funded by the European Union, the Republic of Turkey and the Council of Europe. The Union of Turkish Bar Associations is the end beneficiary of the Project. The Central Finance and Contracting Unit is the contracting authority.
