A two-day training programme on “Procedures of Individual Application to the Constitutional Court” was held for lawyers from the Burdur Bar Association. 23 participants, including the first female president of the Burdur Bar Association, attended the training programme, which aimed to equip them with in-depth knowledge and practical skills on individual application procedures before the Turkish Constitutional Court.
The sessions covered crucial topics such as the exhaustion of domestic remedies, deadlines for submitting applications, manifestly ill-founded claims, and other crucial admissibility criteria before the Turkish Constitutional Court. Experienced trainers, who had previously completed specialised training under the “training of trainers” programme, delivered the sessions.
The interactive structure of the training facilitated extensive professional exchange, helping participants enhance their analytical skills, deepen their understanding of constitutional law issues and identify and rectify frequent procedural errors. Participants appreciated the detailed explanations and engaging discussions on various aspects such as formal conditions for lodging an individual application, criteria for inadmissibility, rights not eligible as standalone claims, application procedures and time limits, frequent procedural mistakes, manifestly ill-founded applications and grounds for rejection of individual complaints.
The Joint Project on “Supporting the Effective Implementation of Turkish Constitutional Court Judgments in the Field of Fundamental Rights” is co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe. The Turkish Constitutional Court is the end beneficiary of the Project.
