Within the scope of the European Union – Council of Europe Joint Project “Strengthening Democratic Culture in Basic Education”, the Capacity Building Working Group had its second meeting on 7-8 October 2019 in Ankara. The participants of the meeting included representatives from the relevant departments of the Ministry of National Education, representatives of the Council of Europe, members of the civil society, education practitioners, and national and international consultants. The Working Group reviewed the analysis report that had been drafted based on the interviews held with 60 teachers from the pilot schools of the Project and the results of an online questionnaire and discussed the content of the training modules and materials to be drafted under the Project.
The Working Group will continue to have meetings in the upcoming months to regularly review the draft training programme, modules and materials that will be prepared by the consultants of the Project and used for the training of 240 teachers from pilot schools as trainers. These trainers will then train approximately 5400 teachers from the pilot schools on competences for democratic culture through cascade training seminars.
