The Council of Europe supports the development of public awareness materials for the conciliation users in Turkey.
The first consultation meeting to prepare a practical handbook, general information booklets, posters, and conciliation video/announcements for conciliation users was held online on 12 October 2021 in the framework of the European Union-Council of Europe Joint Project on “Promoting Alternative Dispute Resolution in Turkey”, with the participation of the Directorate General for Criminal Affairs of the Ministry of Justice, the Council of Europe project team, international and local consultants.
The meeting was held with the aim of discussing the scope of the activities, the workplan and the division of labour. It provided the opportunity for the beneficiary institution and consultants to come together and share their expectations.
Materials under preparation aim to raise awareness of citizens, defendants, plaintiffs, lawyers and judicial police in the field of conciliation and also provide organisational and institutional information on the means of implementation of conciliation in criminal matters in Turkey.
The Joint Project on “Promoting Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in Turkey” is co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe. The Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Turkey – Directorate General for Criminals Affairs and Directorate General for Legal Affairs are the end beneficiaries of the Project. The Central Finance and Contracts Unit is the contracting authority.
