26 lawyers from the Kocaeli Bar Association attended a two-day training to strengthen their knowledge and practical skills on individual application procedures before the Turkish Constitutional Court.
The training covered key topics, including the exhaustion of domestic remedies, application deadlines, manifestly unfounded claims, and other critical admissibility criteria for Constitutional Court applications. Experienced trainers, who had completed specialised “training of trainers” programmes, led the sessions.
The interactive format encouraged collaboration, improved participants’ analytical skills, and deepened their understanding of constitutional law. The training also addressed common procedural mistakes, equipping participants with the knowledge to navigate the complexities of the application process more effectively. Key topics, such as the formal requirements for individual applications, inadmissibility grounds, deadlines, and reasons for application rejections, were explored in detail.
Participants appreciated the in-depth explanations and interactive discussions on various topics, including the formal requirements for submitting an individual application, inadmissibility criteria, rights not eligible as standalone claims, application procedures, common procedural errors and the grounds for the rejection of individual complaints.
The Joint Project on “Supporting the Effective Implementation of Turkish Constitutional Court Judgments in the Field of Fundamental Rights” is co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe. The Turkish Constitutional Court is the end beneficiary of the Project.
