A round table meeting was held on 29 March 2024 in Ankara under the EU-CoE Joint Project on ”Supporting the Effective Implementation of Turkish Constitutional Court Judgments in the Field of Fundamental Rights”.
The meeting, designed in a peer-to-peer exchange format, brought together lawyers from the European Court of Human Rights and rapporteurs from the Turkish Constitutional Court to discuss important issues such as right to liberty and security, right to life / prohibition of torture, right to property and filtering methods of the European Court of Human Rights. The aim of the roundtable meeting was to foster a deeper understanding of some legal questions and to share information about the recent case-laws of both courts.
The lively interactions and discussions throughout the session underscored the importance of such gatherings. Participants, expressed their satisfaction at the event and underlined the valuable insights gained and the increased awareness of recent case-law. This collaborative effort is a significant step towards enhancing legal coherence and effective implementation, ultimately contributing to a better protection of human and fundamental rights.
The Joint Project on “Supporting the Effective Implementation of Turkish Constitutional Court Judgments in the Field of Fundamental Rights” is co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe. The Turkish Constitutional Court is the end beneficiary of the Project.
