The first university lecture planned in the framework of the Project was organised in Gaziantep University Law Faculty on 30 March 2022. Assoc. Prof. Taylan Barın of Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University conducted the lecture. In addition to Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Esra Siverekli, members of the faculty, representatives of the Council of Europe were also present during the lecture.
The lecture covered various subjects ranging from the individual application mechanism, objective and subjective effect of TCC judgments, subsidiarity principle to the admissibility criteria. Some statistical data concerning individual applications before the TCC, and most frequent human rights violations identified in TCC judgments were also shared with the participants. The event enjoyed a good level of participation: some 200 senior students of the law faculty attended the event. During this interactive lecture, students asked several questions to Mr Taylan Barın. The participants further expressed their gratitude for the organisation of such an informative event in Gaziantep, the first of 30 seminars planned in the framework of the Project, thanking the CoE team as well as the lecturers.
The Joint Project on “Supporting the Effective Implementation of Turkish Constitutional Court Judgments in the Field of Fundamental Rights” is co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe. The Turkish Constitutional Court is the end beneficiary of the Project.
