The Chief Public Prosecutor, Deputy First Presidents, Deputy Chief Public Prosecutor and heads of civil and criminal chambers of the Court of Cassation attended the “Preparatory Workshop for Focus Group Meetings” held in Bolu on 20-21 December 2019 within the scope of the EU-CoE Joint Project on “Strengthening the Institutional Capacity of Court of Cassation”. Consultations for upcoming focus group meetings were held in the event where Mr. Adis Hodžić, the International Coordinator Consultant of the project and member of the CEPEJ Evaluation Working Group (CEPEJ-GT-EVAL), made a comprehensive presentation and shared his experience. In the workshop, Hodžić provided information related to the efficiency and effectiveness of the Court of Cassation under the themes “bureaucratic data collection”, “normative framework”, “capacity building”, “monitoring and evaluation” and “accountability and action” in line with the European standards and comparative examples. Participants shared their experience and the existing practices in the fields of the quality of justice and time management in the judiciary and thus made significant contributions to the project in terms of uniform standards to be defined within the scope of the project.
In the “Focus Group Meetings” to be organized soon, representatives from the Court of Cassation, appellate courts, the Ministry of Justice, the Council of Judges and Prosecutors, the Union of Turkish Bar Associations and the Justice Academy of Turkey will come together and conduct negotiations to better understand the difficulties encountered by various justice actors and the expectations of court users.
