Representatives of the Council of Europe, Department of Human Rights of the Ministry of Justice and project experts participated in the field visit, which was organised to the Court of Appeals, Courthouse and local bar association in Adana on 1-2 October in order to support needs assessment studies of the Project on Supporting the Implementation and Reporting on the Action Plan on Human Rights. The Council of Europe experts met with the presidents and members of chambers of the Court of Appeals, judges and prosecutors from the courthouse and lawyers of the local bar association in Adana during the visit for two days and discussed the needs related to legislation and implementation in three thematic areas of the Action Plan on Human Rights (i.e. the right to liberty and security, the right to a fair trial and freedom of expression).
Consultations will continue in the coming months, with a view to generate knowledge and formulate recommendations for a better protection of the rights covered under Article 5 (Right to liberty and security), Article 6 (Right to a fair trial), and Article 10 (Freedom of expression) of the European Convention on Human Rights.
