A working group meeting was held online on 01 February 2022 within the scope of the activity on preparing and producing publications and promotional materials to facilitate increase of the awareness on the ADR mechanisms (mediation and arbitration) and promote them among the target groups under the European Union-Council of Europe Joint Project on “Promoting Alternative Dispute Resolution in Turkey”.

The meeting was held with 14 participants, including the Directorate General for Legal Affairs of the Ministry of Justice, national consultants from different disciplines, relevant stakeholders (Directorate of Presidential Administrative Affairs, ISTAC, ITOTAM, mediators) and the Council of Europe project team.

Consultants and other participants gathered to prepare a practical handbook on mediation and arbitration for mediators and lawyers; guidebooks on mediation and arbitration for judges, court staff and lawyers; and public information leaflets, posters, public service announcements/video for the general public to raise awareness on mediation and arbitration mechanisms and to support the effective implementation of these mechanisms.

In addition, discussions took place on the key messages, slogans, structure, length and content of the materials for each target group and the applicability of suggestions by consultants.

These materials will be prepared for different target groups and when completed and produced, they will be distributed in a series of target meetings in the regions, through information desks and mediation bureaux in pilot courthouses, and will also be available in the electronic environment for access by wider audiences and will be published on the relevant websites.

The Joint Project on “Promoting Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in Turkey” is co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe. The Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Turkey Directorate General for Criminals Affairs and Directorate General for Legal Affairs are the end beneficiaries of the Project.
