Young Roma Become Baristas

The closing event and certificate ceremony of the “Young Roma Baristas Course”, one of the sub-grant projects carried out by Konak Municipality within the scope of the ROMACTED Phase II Project “Promoting Good Governance and Roma Empowerment at Local Level”, a European Union-Council of Europe Joint Programme, was held in the historical service building of Konak Municipality R&D Directorate with the participation of Konak Mayor Nilüfer Çınarlı Mutlu and Council of Europe ROMACTED Phase II Project Officer Burçak Kılınç. The event was attended by Konak Municipality Council Members Tolga Küleş and Hamit Mumcu, Konak Municipality R&D Director Bülent Köstem, President of Ege Mahallesi Youth Education and Culture Association, Barista Trainer Tamer Yetişir, Board Member of Zero Discrimination Association Mine Karakuş, trainers, trainees and their families.

At the end of the 2-month course, 20 Roma youth who successfully completed their training received their certificates and joined the employment process. At the end of the ceremony, young baristas prepared and served special coffees to the guests.
