Within the framework of the European Union-Council of Europe Joint Project "Strengthening the Institutional Capacity of Court of Cassation", a study visit was organised to Finland on 14-18 August 2023. The objective of the study visit was to exchange information on the Finnish judicial system by visiting the Supreme Court, Finnish Bar Association, Judicial Appointments Board, Helsinki Court of Appeal, Office of the Prosecutor General and District Court of Helsinki.
A delegation of 19 persons, including the Vice President and Chair of the General Assembly of Civil Chambers, Secretary General, bench members, Deputy Secretary General, rapporteur judges, public prosecutor of the Court of Cassation and representatives of the Council of Europe attended the study visit. During the visit, the delegation received information about the Finnish judicial system, functions of the judicial institutions and Bar Association in Finland and exchanged views on best judicial practices, as well as training programmes designed for the judiciary and other stakeholders.
This study visit provided an opportunity to exchange views on best judicial practices and training programmes for the judiciary and other actors.
The Joint Project on “Strengthening the Institutional Capacity of Court of Cassation” is co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and the Court of Cassation of Türkiye is the end beneficiary of the Project.
