The Chairperson of the International Law Commission (ILC), Mr Georg Nolte, gave the CAHDI an overview of the recent activities of the ILC and the topics discussed during the ILC’s 69th Session in Geneva this year. His presentation touched on topical issues related to crimes against humanity, the protection of the atmosphere, immunity of state officials from foreign criminal jurisdiction, the provisional application of treaties, peremtory norms of general international la (jus cogens), the succession of states in respect of state responsibility, the protection of the environment in relation to armed conflicts, general principles of law and evidence before international courts and tribunals.
