Recommendation Rec(2000)19 on the Role of Public Prosecution in the criminal justice system

In the framework of the celebration of the 10th Anniversary of Recommendation Rec(2000)19 on the Role of Public Prosecution in the criminal justice system, the implementation of which the CCPE has been mandated to promote, the CCPE members are invited to transmit to the Secretariat all information concerning possible national events they may organise on this occasion.

Germany

The annual meeting of Prosecutors General of Germany and the Federal Prosecutor of Germany together with guests from neighbor states this year will take place in Rostock/Germany from 10 to 12 May 2010.  This highest-level conference of German prosecutors will celebrate the 10thanniversary of the implementation of Recommendation 2000 (19) and of the CCPE.

Prosecutor General Harald Range from Celle/Germany, former president of the CPGE and the CCPE, will give a formal presentation of the work, the outcome and the impact , which  this Group has, regarding the important role of Public Prosecutors in a society, governed by the rule of law, democracy and freedom.

Italy

In the framework of the celebration of the 10th anniversary of Recommendation Rec(2000)19, the Italian High Council for the Judiciary is organising a Study seminar on the statute and actions of the public prosecution. This seminar will be followed by a roundle table entitled "Recommendation 19 of the year 2000: 10 years after its approval: topics and perspectives. The Italian judiciary and judicial system at the time of reforms." The members of the CCPE working group entrusted with drawing up Opinion No. 6 on the relationships between prosecutors and prison administration will participate in this two events.
