European Conferences of Prosecutors
European Conference of Prosecutors (Palermo, 5-6 May 2022)
The European Conference of Prosecutors is organised in the framework of the Italian Presidency of the Committee of Ministers, from 5- 6 May in Palermo. The Conference is promoted by the Prosecutor-General’s Office of the Supreme Court of Cassation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Justice, in co-operation with the Council of Europe. It will focus on the Public Prosecutor’s independence and accountability in the context of protecting individual rights and common challenges with respect to the protection of human rights , on judicial co-operation in the investigation of transnational crimes, including in particular the offences against the environment and those committed by means of the information technology.
10th anniversary celebration of Recommendation Rec(2000)19 of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe on the role of public prosecution in the criminal justice system
The relationship between Judges and Prosecutors
Organised by the CCPE and the the CCJE in co-operation with the "Ecole Nationale de la Magistrature" (ENM), the European Conference of Judges and Prosecutors met in Bordeaux (France) from 30 June to 1 July 2009 on the theme "Exercise of the missions of judges and prosecutors : complementarity and/or autonomy". The results of this Conference will be used as a basis of preparatory works for the 2009 opinion to be adopted by the CCJE and the CCPE on the same topic.
The role of the public prosecution in the protection of human rights and public interests outside the criminal law field
A Conference on the theme "The role of the public prosecution in the protection of human rights and public interests outside the criminal law field" was held in Saint Petersburg (Russian Federation) on 2-3 July 2008. The Conference, jointly organised by the Council of Europe and the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation, brought together prosecutors general from all Council of Europe member states and observer states to define the principles for future Consultative Council of European Prosecutors work in this field.
International co-operation in the criminal justice field
Organised by the Consultative Council of European Prosecutors (CCPE) in co-operation with the Polish Ministry of Justice, the European Conference of Prosecutors met in Warsaw (Poland) on 4 and 5 June 2007.

7th Conference "The role of the public prosecutor in the protection of individuals"
The 7th session of the Conference of Prosecutors General of Europe was organised in Moscow from 5 to 6 July 2006 by the Council of Europe in co-operation with the Office of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation in the framework of the co-operation programme to strengthen the rule of law and Russian Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe. The Conference concerned the role of the public prosecutor in the protection of individuals.
6th Conference "The relationship between public prosecutors and the police"
The Conference was organised in Budapest from 29 to 31 May 2005 in cooperation with the Prosecutor general of Hungary and brought together high level prosecutors from all Council of Europe member States. The main theme of the Conference was: "The relationship between public prosecutors and the police".
5th Conference "Discretionary powers of public prosecution: opportunity or legality principle- advantages and disadvantages"
The Conference was organised in cooperation with the Prosecutor general of Celle, Lower Saxony (Germany) from 23 to 25 May 2004 and brought together high level prosecutors from almost all Council of Europe member States on the following theme: "Discretionary powers of public prosecution: opportunity or legality principle- advantages and disadvantages".
4th Conference "Public prosecution and politics"
Prosecutors General and other prosecutors of Europe, together in Bratislava from 1st to 3rd June 2003 for their 4th conference, examined amongst other things the question of the relations between politics and public prosecution. They stated their preoccupation with partisan interferences that are carried out on many public prosecutors in Europe.
3rd Conference of Prosecutors General of Europe
The 3rd Conference of Prosecutors General of Europe was organised in Ljubljana, from 12 to 14 May 2002 by the Council of Europe in co-operation with the Prosecutor General of Slovenia.
2nd Conference "Harmonisation and co-operation between prosecutors at European level"
The 2nd Pan-European Conference of Prosecutors General of Europe was organised by the Council of Europe in co-operation with the Prosecutor General of Romania and was held in Bucharest (Romania) from 12 to 16 May 2001. "Harmonisation and co-operation between prosecutors at European level" was the main subject of this Conference.
1st Conference "Protecting society from organised crime"
The first Pan-European Conference for Public Prosecutors specialising in cases relating to organised crime organised by the Council of Europe in co-operation with the National Antimafia Directorate and the 2nd University of Naples was held in Caserta (Italy) from 8 to 10 September 2000. The main theme of the Conference was "Protecting society from organised crime".
Pan-European Conference "What public prosecution in Europe in the XXIst Century"
This Pan-European Conference organised jointly with École Nationale de la Magistrature (Bordeaux) was held in Strasbourg from 22 to 24 May 2000. The main subject of the conference was "What public prosecution in Europe in the XXIst Century".
