At a joint meeting held on 16 November, the CDCJ and the Steering Committee for the Rights of the Child (CDENF) approved the draft recommendation on the protection of the rights and best interests of the child in parental separation procedures, and adopted its explanatory memorandum. This draft recommendation will be transmitted for adoption to the Committee of Ministers, together with the draft recommendation on care procedures to be completed by the end of 2024.
The CDCJ carried out an initial examination of the draft convention for the protection of the legal profession, including the proposed monitoring mechanism, as prepared by the Committee of Experts on the Protection of Lawyers (CJ-AV) and provided guidance to the CJ-AV for the continuation of its work.
The CDCJ approved the terms of reference and workplan of the CDCJ limited working group for preparing a draft compendium of good practices and a draft legal instrument on the topic of access to nationality for stateless children. I also approved the workplan for preparing its first thematic review as a follow-up to its 2022 Report to the Secretary General of the Council of Europe on the implementation of the Council of Europe Plan of Action on Strengthening Judicial Independence and Impartiality, with a focus on the state of play in member States regarding the career and training of judges.
