96th CDCJ Plenary meeting

CDCJ held its 96th plenary meeting via videoconference on 17 May 2021. The Committee discussed the programming and priorities for the next quadrennium period 2022-2025, in line with the new programme and budgeting cycle of the Council of Europe. The Committee adopted an ambitious plan of activities to be proposed for implementation in the next four years on issues including, but not limited to, a new legal instrument for the protection of the profession of lawyer; developments in the areas of new technologies, particularly in relation to artificial intelligence and administration; family law and children’s rights, including through the work of its Committee of experts on the rights and the best interests of the child in parental separation and in care proceedings (CJ/ENF-ISE); as well as issues related to migration and statelessness. The CDCJ adopted a report for the attention of the Committee of Ministers on the conditions of administrative detention of migrants overviewing the work done until now in the framework of its former Committee of experts on administrative detention of migrants (CJ-DAM) and proposals for completion of this work.
