Academy of Good Governance in Serbia: Focus on Green Municipalities

Green municipalities, green economy, energy efficiency, and innovative methods for evaluation of management capabilities of local governments were among the main topics of this year's Academy of Good Governance. The Academy was organised by the National Association of Municipal Clerks in Bulgaria, in cooperation with the Centre for Expertise for Good Governance, for the local authorities from Serbia, North Macedonia and Bulgaria. The three-day training was held in the municipality of Ćuštica, Serbia, from 22 to 24 May.

The mayors of Bela Palanka, Trgovište, Bojnik and Mali Zvornik from Serbia and Kumanovo, Gjorche Petrov, Kriva Palanka and Makedonska Kamenitsa from North Macedonia exchanged their experience and knowledge amongst themselves. Active participation and input during the seminar also came from the delegates of the Regional Centre for Development in Vranje, experts on energy efficiency, and three members of the Serbian Parliament. Trainers from North Macedonia, Serbia and Bulgaria gave presentations on the main topics. In total, 36 experts, lecturers and municipal senior officers and mayors from three neighbouring countries participated in the training.
