Celebrating the most innovative good governance practice by local authorities in Moldova

The National Award Ceremony of the Best Practices Programme for Local Authorities will be organised in Chisinau on Wednesday 21st December 2022 as an opportunity to celebrate and share the best practice identified by 57 local authorities in Moldova from 2020-2022.

The Best Practices Programme for Local Authorities in Moldova is implemented by the Institute for Development and Social Initiatives (IDIS) "Viitorul", with the financial support of the Council of Europe. The Programme aims to identify, appreciate, promote and disseminate the best practices among local authorities from Moldova, in order to improve the efficiency of local governance.

The Best Practice Programme Toolkit of the Centre of Expertise for Good Governance of the Council of Europe is designed to help promote good democratic governance practice through peer learning.  Each year the Best Practice Programme steering committee identifies different priority areas and appeals to local authorities to share examples of good practice.  It is incumbent on local authorities who good practice is recognised is to transform it into a training vehicle for the benefit all other local authorities.

In 2022 local authorities in Moldova will be recognised for innovative practice around 4 thematic areas:

  1. Transparent governance for an intelligent public administration;
  2. Local development through community solidarity;
  3. Authentic traditions at home;
  4. Community infrastructure for social revitalization.

A Best Practice award ceremony was recently organised in Ukraine, and the BPP is currently running in Hungary and will be launched again next year in Armenia.
