How to develop institutional leadership in order to deliver good democratic governance at the local level? The Leadership Academy Programme (LAP) is a Council of Europe toolkit to deliver capacity building in this area.
On 2 December, the first LAP edition was launched in Italy. Overall, 25 mayors and councillors of municipalities from the region of Friuli Venezia Giulia will participate in different training sessions to strengthen their leadership skills and competences.
The launch event was attended by representatives from the Regional government, the National Association of Italian Municipalities, the Friuli Venezia Giulia Federation of the Italian Association of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions, and the Head of the Democratic Governance Division of the Council of Europe.
LAP is delivered by the Institute of International Sociology of Gorizia, in cooperation with the Centre of Expertise for Good Governance. The next stage of LAP is foreseen in two weeks.
