The Seminar on governance of metropolitan areas took place on 17-18 October in Thessaloniki and gathered representatives of member states of the Council of Europe (CoE), the Greek Government and other national and international relevant stakeholders.
This event was jointly organised by the Secretariat of the European Committee on Democracy and Governance (CDDG) and the Centre of Expertise in the framework of the CoE/EU Technical Assistance Project on Institutional Enhancement of Local Governance in Greece.
The activity is part of the policy advice provided by the Centre of Expertise to the Hellenic Ministry of Interior to support the revision of the Kallikratis reform, the major law on decentralisation system.
Participants were able to share best practices and experience in relation to models of good metropolitan governance, and contributed to the development of CoE recommendations and tools for strengthening metropolitan governance.
