36th meeting of the CEPEJ Working Group on Judicial Time Management

On 9 and 11 April 2024, the CEPEJ Working Group on Judicial Time Management (CEPEJ-SATURN) met for the first time under its mandate 2024-2025. Giacomo Oberto (Italy) was elected president of the group whose other members are Ivan Crncec (Croatia), Francesco Depasquale (Malta), Mitja Kozar (Slovenia), Sabine Matejka (Austria), Pawel Wrzaszcz (Poland) and deputy members Jörg Wagner (Germany) and Ketevan Tsintsadze (Georgia). Scientific experts, who assists the group in their work, are as follows: Aurélie Grenot-Devedjian (France), Dimitrije Sujeranovic (Serbia) and Christian de Valkeneer (Belgium).  

The members agreed on the first tasks to be carried out in order to implement the the Activity Programme, which will concern the following themes: the case-weighting tool, the workload measurement tools in judicial systems, the database of backlog reduction practices, the tool to analyse the length of the steps of the civil procedure, the Time Management Checklist for public prosecution services, the potential effects of the use of Artificial Intelligence’s tool on court efficiency and the tool on work-life balance in the judiciary. The CEPEJ-SATURN will also continue to work in the framework of the Network of the CEPEJ pilot courts.
