The 4th round of meetings of the Working Groups (WGs) composed of representatives of key judicial stakeholders and supported by the CEPEJ, having as objectives to promote the coherence of reporting on court performance and on the optimisation of human resources policies of the judicial system in the Republic of Moldova, took place on 15 and 16 May 2024.
The first Group discussed the 2023 report of the Comrat Court of Appeal with the view to define a model to be applied by all national courts. The participants were presented the ways the JUSTAT information system can be used in this context, as well as the CEPEJ Backlog Reduction Tool.
In connection with the mandate of the WG, the Project team accompanied by a representative of the Agency for Court Administration conducted on 17 May a workshop on annual reporting with the representatives of Balti first instance and appellate courts.
The second Working Group discussed a methodology to assess judges’ workload and to improve the work-life balance of courts’ employees.
Meetings with representatives of the Superior Council of Prosecutors, General Prosecutors’ Office, Ministry of Justice, and the Mediation Council were carried out, envisaging support to objectives of on-going justice reforms such as improving the internal management and the communication of the prosecution service and developing the recourse to mediation.
The activities were organised within the framework of the Project “Support to further modernisation of court management in the Republic of Moldova”, co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe in their Partnership for Good Governance (2023-2027).
