On 19-21 June 2023, the European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice (CEPEJ) organised an activity focusing on the digitalisation of the mediation system in Azerbaijan. It targeted gathering information and discussing possible improvements of the current case management and exploring the monitoring and evaluation through data collection of the results of the mediation system, mediation centres, and individual mediators. The perspectives of development of online mediation services were also discussed. CEPEJ experts met with the main stakeholders of the mediation, namely the Mediation Council and the Ministry of Justice, and visited several mediation centres in the cities of Baku and Sumgait.

The visit will be followed in the first stage by an expert report and recommendations on the digitalisation of the mediation system in Azerbaijan based on the relevant CEPEJ guidelines and the Baseline Grid for Mediation Key Performance Indicators developed by the CEPEJ.

This activity was organised within the framework of the Project “Fostering mediation in Azerbaijan”, funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe in their Partnership for Good Governance III (2023-2027).
