28 members of the court councils of Albania (the recently established governing body of the courts, composed of court presidents, deputy court presidents and court chancellors) attended on 6 – 8 June 2024 a workshop on “The role of the court council in increasing court performance. Collegial leadership team: cooperation between president, deputy and chancellor”, organized by the CEPEJ in cooperation with the School of Magistrates of Albania.

The event aimed at supporting these representatives of the court leadership in enhancing of managerial capacities in line with CEPEJ standards, particularly related to measuring court performance and using statistics for effective decision-making. It also aimed at improving internal communication and cooperation within the court.

During this workshop the Albanian court leadership had an opportunity to exchange on these practices with court presidents from Portugal and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The President of the High Court Sokol Sadushi in particular emphasized the important role of the court council for the better administration of justice, taking into account the needs of users and responding to public expectations for performance, efficiency, and accountability.

The activity was organized by the action Strengthening the Quality and Efficiency of Justice in Albania (SEJ IV) in the framework of the European Union/Council of Europe joint programme Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Türkiye (Horizontal Facility III), co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.
