In cooperation with the Court Administration of Latvia, CEPEJ organised a round table about “Court and judicial systems’ budget” and participated to the multilateral round table “Innovative Approach in Court Management for a Better Justice”, 7-9 November 2017, Riga

The round table “Court and judicial system budgets” was conducted on 7 November had as a goal to contribute to the on-going development of the court budget system in Latvia. Experts from France, Estonia, Finland, Ireland, the Netherlands and Italy took part in the activity and shared information on their national cases and different innovative ways to draw up and to manage the budgets of courts and of judicial systems, related challenges and good practices. The Court Administration of Latvia presented the current system of budgeting the courts and the envisaged changes. An exchange of opinions on the engaged reform was carried out in the concluding part of the event.
The round table “Innovative Approach in Court Management for a Better Justice”, conducted on 8-9 November 2017, was the initiative of the Ministry of Justice and Court Administration of Latvia, and was organised as part of the Project “Justice for Growth”, funded by the European Social Fund. It represented a forum for exchanges between court administrations of the European Union, Eastern Partnership and Central Asian countries. Participants from more than 20 countries discussed innovations in court management, related strategic approaches, introduction of modern technologies and improving the communication with the public. The CEPEJ representatives took part in the discussions and moderated the sessions on “Technologies in Court Management” and “Accessibility of Services and Cost-Effective Approach”.
