At the invitation of the President of the Executive Committee of the Belgian Federal Public Service of Justice, Mr. Jean-Paul Janssens, also CEPEJ member in respect to Belgium, the Secretariat of the CEPEJ went to Brussels (Belgium) on 31st May and 1st June in order to meet the Belgian judicial authorities and to present to them the CEPEJ working methods, the main tools adopted and the works under preparation.
Discussions were held on improving the dissemination of the CEPEJ tools at national level and on ways of increasing the cooperation between Belgium and the CEPEJ. The Belgian authorities also presented their current projects in the field of justice, in particular at IT level and concerning judicial statistics, measuring the workload of judges and prosecutors and their evaluation. A workshop on the data collected with regard to Belgium in the framework of the CEPEJ evaluation cycle and the CEPEJ study for the Scoreboard was also held.
